Tuesday, December 18, 2012, 1:40 PM, Brooklyn Nets announced Avery Johnson had been relieved of Brooklyn Nets Head Coach. Assistant coach P.J. Carlesimo will get a chance as interim coach, but he’s no long-term solution for the Nets.

NEW YORK DAILY NEWS report on Monday, December 17, 2012 – “I’ve really had injuries I’ve been dealing with the whole time,” Deron Williams said. “I didn’t have the talent around me I did there. Their system was a great system for my style of play. I am a system player. I loved coach (Jerry) Sloan’s system there, I loved the offense there.”
Sources told ESPN.com on Thursday the Nets have Phil Jackson atop their list of potential replacements for Johnson and will make a hard push for the 67-year-old, who appeared close to returning for a third stint with the Los Angeles Lakers in November before L.A. unexpectedly gave the job to Mike D’Antoni.
