Jermaine O’Neal was knocked out of action for almost two months after undergoing arthroscopic surgery in December to repair ligament damage in his right wrist. But the Warriors’ 35-year-old backup center came up huge Thursday with regular starter Andrew Bogut out due to a left shoulder injury. Not only did O’Neal take single coverage on Dwight Howard — helping to force the eight-time All-Star into a 4-for-13 night from the field — but also delivered a massive block on Chandler Parsons in the final half-minute of overtime as the Warriors nursed a one-point advantage.
Parsons made a great back-door cut down the right baseline, collected a pass from Harden and looked to dunk for a 97-96 lead — but O’Neal got his left hand out to turn the shot aside before flexing for the appreciative crowd.
